The tickets are bought and Chrissy & the girls are arriving on August 11th! John couldn’t take off work and that stinks. I really wanted him to be able to come too. I won’t be here when they arrive…our Faculty Retreat is the 11th to the 12th…but I’ll be back about 3 on the 12th. Then we’re heading down to Houston till Thursday. I have to work Friday morning at 8 since it is our “Love Fest” with the whole church/elementary/Middle school/ Preschool staff. That is over about 10 and I am going to come home and pick up Scott H and whichever girls want to come along so they can see where MomMom works and meet my coworkers. They can either help us by putting things away in the room or they can go wander around campus with Scott H while he shows them his school/church. As long as they don’t bother any of the other teachers it is OK. They can also play on the playgrounds if they want since summer camp will be over and there will be nothing going on except the teachers’ inservice to set up the rooms. The girls have called several times to ask questions and tell me things. They are so excited and so is Scott H.
Wanna know a secret??? I am too!
Things have been busy here. I started working my full time summer schedule on the 14th. So far, so good. I have been getting done by 5 to 5:45 most afternoons since the one boy I have that always stays till 6 on the dot has been on vacation. No other word on the seizures he had and he is due back tomorrow so guess we will hear more then. The two year old class I have been in on my long days has been fun. The days go fast. Tuesdays when I am there the Summer Camp has “Water Day”. So far they have had this huge inflatable slide thing with a pool and water cannon and the other week was just the blowup family sized pool and water guns. The kids have a blast and we get wet a little too.
Thursdays when I am there we have special events. One week was a clown from Barnum & Bailey’s. He lives in Austin when he is not traveling and is sort of their Pre-show ambassador. His name is “Bonzo Crunch” and the kids loved him. He was a little out of synch with preschoolers though I think. His “show” was an hour long and getting the kids to sit still that long? NOT easy. He kept stopping and saying he would wait until everyone was sitting down and the teachers had control of their kids. They ended up taking out the tods and twos early (This was a week I was subbing for the one threes class). He was still good and the older kids liked it a lot.
The first week I did the twos class, we had a puppet show that the kids loved so much. this past week was the woman who always brings the animals to the school. She brought baby goats, pygmy goats, a tiny sheep, a lamb, some chicks and a rabbit. The pic up top is of two of my kids chasing after the school’s ducks. The teacher who does the earth science classes is always bringing animals. We have raised several ducks..these are her latest brood. We have a rabbit and she has brought in Guinea Pigs, lizards..you name it. the kids love watching the ducks swimming and following her around.
I got my schedule for the fall. I am working Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays from 8 to 3 and then Wednesday and Friday from 8 to 5:30!! I am so excited about having the three early days. 5th grade homework is even worse than the 4th grade was..and lots of projects. We are going to need that time so Scott H can focus on the work here rather than at aftercare.
Scott H was gone with Scott most of the week at Webelos Extreme Camp. It was hot but they had fun. Scott H earned his “Chili Pepper” Badge since the temps were over 100 while he was there. He did some BB gun shooting, Paintball shooting, Archery, whittling, fire-building, catapult launching and so many other things. Daddy didn’t have quite as much fun and was glad when they got home. Here are some pics of Scott H having fun:

Here is a shot of my boys before they left for camp
We went out last night and picked out our new kitchen countertops as well as the sink and faucet. I can’t wait until the guy comes to measure so they can start making it and we can get it installed! This is a sample of the counter:

It is a quartz countertop that is supposed to be very durable..I hope so! That ugly orange behind it is what we have now.

And here is the faucet. I wanted the type where you pull the sprayer out of the faucet but the one they had wasn't included in the special that they had going on.
We are planning on doing the dishwasher next, then the new stove and over the range micro. All the appliances will be Stainless Steel then (the fridge already is…we got that a year and a half ago). We want to do the wood floor throughout the entry, living room and kitchen..but that will be the last thing we do. I need to painting the paneling in the living room first and then touch up the kitchen walls and cabinets which we painted a few years ago. They look like this in case you forgot (or are just joining the program here):

I guess that is about it from here. I need to sort laundry yet. Scott had a run in with a BBQ squeeze bottle yesterday and I have his WHITE shirt soaking still. I told him not to wear white…but you know men!
Have a good one Y’all!
