Absolutely Peachy

I Am So Blessed!

I am soooooo excited!! I got the Full-Time spot for next fall!!!  When I went in yesterday, Amber, my boss, told me she wanted to talk to me. She showed me a new summer schedule and asked me if it was OK. To tell the truth, I really didn’t even look at it…I just said “YES!!!” and told her to put a copy in my mailbox. She then went on to tell me that she would like to offer me 40 hours in the fall. It would be 3 days 8:00 to 3:00 and two long days 8:00 to 5:30!!  I said “Thank you! Thank you! I can give up Sunday mornings!” She said she knew I have wanted that and she wished she could have given me more hours before this. She told me she needed to talk to Brittney and Sara, who are the lead and co-teachers in my Ducks room before we set the schedule. I figured she wanted to see what days they would need to work late and work mine around theirs for my late days.  I was so happy and told her that I was worried that Mary had been there longer than I had or that Brandi would want to come back full time this year. She said that she doesn’t always base her decisions on just those factors and that I actually started before Mary since last year I worked with the older kids the first half of the year before the Ducks class was started.  I just was happy that I am now full time!!!

When I went in today, I told Sara about getting full time in the fall and she said she knew and was so excited. I mentioned that I had been worried and she knew that, but she said she had an idea Amber would ask me. I said something about getting to have most of my kidlets back next year (since our class would be moving to the two 2 yr old rooms) and she looked at me funny. I thought maybe she was moving back to the twos and I was going to be staying in our room. She said not to say anything and to act surprised when Amber tells me..cause she obviously hasn’t…but Britt is moving to the two year old class as lead teacher…the current lead teacher is going to be co-teacher (she wants a more flexible schedule next year)…and…Sara will be lead Duck teacher and I will be her co-teacher!!!!!!!!!!!! I am soooo excited!!  We are both nervous, but we know we’ll be OK. If Amber did not have confidence in us, she would never have put us together. I cannot wait to start the new year now!! I still have no idea what hours I will have the rest of the summer..I did notice early (long) days on Thursdays and Fridays but that was all I remember. I should start the new summer schedule on the 14th or 21st…I am not sure when Courtney is done.

All the excitement yesterday was knocked down a huge notch when I got to the classroom. Britt and Sara were still getting the kids’ diapers done and nap mats put away. I was going to say something about getting full time but Britt told me that one of our Ducks was out sick…and he was in the hospital! I was so upset. He is the one I always have till almost exactly 6:00…and is a whiny pain sometimes, but he is so cute and so sweet. He went home sick on Friday…he had a slight temp and diarrhea…nothing major. He has a very high body temp normally and his temp on Friday was pretty much just at the point where we have to send them home. That is not anything for him. His mom said he was fine when he got home and was fine all day Saturday. No fever or anything….playing fine. Then Sunday he had a seizure. The paramedics came but he was OK and they didn’t take him. After they left, he had another. They took him to the hospital and he had two more while he was there!  They were doing all sorts of tests on him to see what caused them.

Sara and Britt left as soon as I got in to go to the hospital to see him. He was sleeping but woke up and seemed fine. The doctors had no idea what cause the seizures and he hadn’t had any more after the two he had when he got there. All the tests were fine. The said they were just putting it down to the temperature. I always thought that febrile seizures occurred when you HAD the temp…not two days later.  The family is supposed to be leaving next Wednesday to go to Taiwan for a couple of weeks to visit family and the doctors said he could still go. They gave them medication and said that if he had another seizure that lasted for half and hour, to give him the meds!! This is a long flight…what if he has one on board??  They sent him home last night and his mom is keeping him home all this week to watch him. We heard nothing today from them so hopefully he is OK. We’ll cehck tomorrow if no one calls the school. His brother was out again today too so we are praying that nothing else happened and that he’ll be OK. It was so scary..he is such a tiny guy..so sweet and loving.  He just turned two on May 30th..and he is one of the two smallest kids in our class but he is so smart and loves to learn new things. I was just so shocked when I heard and all the joy I was feeling seeped right out of my body. I never even mentioned to anyone my good news…except to tell Scott.

That’s about it from here. Some good news and some bad news…seems to always come that way huh? I’m glad I got the good news first….and had some more today. It’s funny how close you get to your kidlets. Even the ones I had last year in our first class of Ducks…they still run and give me hugs when they see me…or come in to say goodbye when they go home in the afternoons. Each and every one of the kids I’ve had is special to me and even when they drive me nuts…I still love them and worry about them. It’s so hard to believe that I am doing what I always wanted to do when I was growing up and that I love my job so much. It isn’t something that everyone can say about their jobs and I just feel so blessed!!

Have a great one Y’all!  Have a Peachy Day!!
